ROHNERT PARK, Calif- For the second time in school history, a member of the women's water polo team has been selected to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) 2010 Women's All-American Team. Laurel Stricklin, who broke several school records in her final year as a Seawolf, was named to the All-American team. It was announced Thursday.

Stricklin becomes the second Sonoma State women's water polo player to be recognized with the honor -- current assistant coach Chelsea Hennan earned the title back in 2005.

For the second season in a row, Stricklin led the Seawolves on offense. She broke the single-season record this past spring for most goals scored with 76, topping the previous high of 75 set by Amanda Haddock in 2005. Not only did she set the mark for most goals in a season, Stricklin became the all-team leader in career goals with 199, outscoring Haddock's 187 in her career at Sonoma State.

The 5-10 center out of Brea is one of seven NCAA Division II student-athletes to receive All-American status this season and is the only center on this year's list.

Sonoma State finished seventh in this year's Western Water Polo Assocation (WWPA) Championship Tournament and finished with a record of 9-27.
