In the first eighteen games of the annual North Bay League-Sonoma County League All-Star game, only twice has a team scored more then 30 points.   The North Bay League became the third team, nearly hitting that mark in the third quarter and taking an easy 36-7 win in front of a big crowd at Santa Rosa High School.  It was the second straight win for the North Bay League and cut Sonoma County League series lead to 10-9.

Despite a couple of nice drives by the NBL, it was The SCL who had a 7-0 lead at the half.  The touchdown was set up right before the half on an interception by Casa Grande's Allan Vargas, who actually returned it 50 yards for a touchdown.   But a personal foul penalty moved the ball to the NBL 30.  Four plays later the touchdown was back on the board after an a 11 yard run by Casa Grande's Kahill Keys with :16 left in the half.  

So the SCL enjoyed the lead during the halftime break.   That was the last part of the game they would enjoy.

The second half was NBL domination.  It started on the first drive---which went fifty four yards in nine plays---that ended on two plays that showed the NBL domination with a Piner flavor.   First on a 3rd and 8 at the SCL 18, Piner's John Rickard caught a pass, broke two tackles and went twelve yards for a first down at the six yard line.   One the next play Piner's  MIchael Monk went to the right, saw nothing, broke a tackle and went back left and scored the NBL's first touchdown.   The NBL went for two and it was a familar Montgomery combo, quarterback Max Heller and tight end Brandon Blank connected to give the NBL an 8-7 lead.

That was just the beginning.  After a three and out the NBL took over on their own 23.   Eleven plays and seventy seven yards later they were in the end zone again.  On the drive Cardinal Newman's Tyler Larson broke off a 31 yard run then followed it up with a 13 yard run, the big bulk of his game high 84 yards rushing in ten carries.  The touchdown was a six yard pass from Heller to Piner's John Rickard to make it 15-7 with 3:36 to go.   In that eight and a half minutes the NBL outgained the SCL 131-8.

They still weren't done, but now it was the special teams turn.   On the next kickoff, the NBL recovered a loose ball at the SCL 18 and on the next play Heller hit Blank for  touchdown number three and a 22-7 lead.  The last two touchdowns were eleven seconds apart and Heller along with his two touchdowns was 15 for 16 for 91 yards.

Montgomery Austin Shull closed out the scoring with two touchdowns from two different positions.  After a three and out on the SCL's next possesion, there punt was short.   The NBL punt team was yelling get away..get away.   Everyone did but Shull, who took the punt on one hop and went 55 yards untouched to make it 29-7 with two seconds left in the third quarter.  The frosting on the cake was Shull intercepting a pass and returning it 23 yards to end the scoring with 2:23 to go.

This was the 37th game of this All-Star game series and only one team scored more points then the NBL did.   That was in 1990 when it was the Sonoma All-Star against the Marin All Stars.  Sonoma won that game 40-13.
