Posted by Staff Writer Eric Branch:
Maria Carrillo’s Katie Mohr, an incoming sophomore, has been selected to the U15 U.S. National Soccer team.
Mohr, a second-team All-Empire selection as a freshman, will leave for the team’s one-week training camp in Sunrise, Fla., on Aug. 22. Mohr, who will turn 15 on Aug. 13, is one of 24 players in the nation who were selected for the national team.
Mohr has played forward for Santa Rosa United coach Paul Dixon the past three years.
“I wasn’t really surprised,” Dixon said of Mohr’s selection. “We’ve played some of the top teams in our age group in California and, to me, she’s one of the top forwards in the whole state.”
