College of San Mateo, with 12 first place votes, and Mt. San Antonio, with five, pace the state poll for a second week. The pair face their closest pursuers Saturday when four of the five remaining National/State Championship Division unbeatens (all 4-0) clash: No. 1 CSM plays at No. 3 American River. No. 2 Mt. SAC visits No. 5 Long Beach.
San Mateo scored more than 50 points for a third straight week, topping San Joaquin Delta, 52-7. America River gave San Francisco its first shutout in more than a quarter century, 13-0. Mt. SAC beat Chaffey, 47-14, and LBCC topped LA Harbor, 62-7.
Conference play continues in all but the North’s National Division this week. Southern California / National Central (in addition to MSAC-LBCC): No. 18 El Camino at No. 8 Riverside; LA Harbor at No. 15 Citrus. National Southern: No. 9 Golden West at No. 6 Fullerton. No. 20 Santa Ana at Saddleback, Palomar at No. 23 Grossmont. National Northern: Moorpark at No. 12 Ventura, No. 13 Cerritos at Pasadena. American Pacific: No. 17 Glendale at Santa Monica. American Mountain: No. 24 Victor Valley at East LA, No. 25 Southwestern at San Diego Mesa.
