The NBL and SCL league races are over and now they move on to the league post season tournaments.
Here is the recap of the league races and the post season tournament schedule for each.
BASEBALL
NBL
Casa Grande lost its first league game to favorite Maria Carrillo. Then they wouldn’t lose again, taking thirteen straight wins.
They needed them to keep their first place position. The league title wasn’t wrapped up until Cardinal Newman went eight innings to defeat second place Maria Carrillo 3-2, on the last . Casa Grande’s last game was still going on, and they defeated Rancho Cotate to win the league title by two games over Maria Carrillo and Cardinal Newman, who tied for second.
It is Casa Grande’s second NBL title in three years. One more win will give them a twenty win season for the third time in four years.
NBL BASEBALL POST SEASON TOURNAMENT

Cardinal Newman is the home team because of a 2-0 record vs. Maria Carrillo
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
FRIDAY AT SRJC
SCL
This race came down to two games between Petaluma and Sonoma Valley. They split the games and split the league championship.
Sonoma Valley is the No. 1 seed, because of numbers drawn before the season. The automatic berth for the NCS playoffs will go to the team that does the best in this tournament. If they both lose the opening round, Sonoma Valley would get the automatic bid, although both teams are NCS bound.
The tie-breaker was a big deal for this tournament. Not only did it decide No. 1 and No. 2, it also decided the other two teams. At 6-6, Analy, El Molino and Piner tied for the last two spots. The first tie-breaker is head to head. Analy beat Piner twice, who beat El Molino twice, who beat Analy twice. So it went to numbers and El Molino drew the worst, so Analy and Piner are in. All three teams should be in the North Coast Section playoffs.

The Ukiah Wildcats wrapped up one of the best seasons in school history with a 7-4 win over Windsor. It was their sixteenth straight win. They went 20-4 overall and 13-1 in NBL play. It is the first time in three seasons they finished over .500. It is the first time in the Max Prep era that they reached the twenty win mark.
The league race ended with a game for the final spot in the post season tournament. That was Maria Carrillo defeating Cardinal Newman 8-1.
Montgomery and Maria Carrillo finished tied for third place at 8-6. Montgomery won the tie-breaker, which save them some travel time.

This was a wire to wire win for Petaluma, who goes 12-0 in league play for the second straight season. It is the fourth year in a row they get a SCL pennant. The last three have been solo championships.
Petaluma outscored its SCL opponents 130-18. They are 21-3 overall, the fifth straight season they have hit the twenty win mark.
Sonoma Valley and Analy finished tied for second at 9-3. They both lost both games to Petaluma and split with each other. Sonoma Valley won the tie-breaker, so they will be the home team in the first round game.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
The NCL world doesn’t have a post season tournament and still has to finish league play.
NCL I BASEBALL
The only suspense about this race is if Clear Lake will go undefeated. At 23-0, they are one game away from an undefeated regular season. That game is Tuesday at Middletown.
Less than two weeks ago Middletown, who is 10-11 overall and 7-5 in league, gave Clear Lake a battle before falling 12-11 in a game that had five lead changes. It was Clear Lake’s fourth one run win of the season. The day before Middletown travels to Cloverdale.
NCL I SOFTBALL
Clear Lake is done with league play, finishing 13-1, which will be at least a tie for the league championship.
Cloverdale is 12-1 and finishes its season on Tuesday with a home game against Middletown. If they win, they will travel to Clear Lake to play an NCL I championship playoff game.
NCL II BASEBALL
The simplest finish is St. Vincent meeting Sonoma Academy at Doyle Park for the league championship next Friday night. That game will wrap up league play.
Before that both teams have a game on Tuesday and things could get confusing. That is especially true if Rincon Valley Christian defeats St. Vincent. Then if St. Vincent defeats Sonoma Academy, and Rincon Valley Christian wins its finale, there would be a three way tie for first place. That is unless Sonoma Academy loses to Upper Lake on Tuesday.
As said above, the simplest finish….
NCL II SOFTBALL
After splitting, St. Vincent and Calistoga are tied for first. That is Calistoga defeated Upper Lake on Friday. Still no report of that game is in. Both teams have one game left and if they end tie, they will have a playoff championship game.
