Casa Grande’s administration has relieved head football coach Trent Herzog
of his duties
No reason has been disclosed yet, other than that the administration wanted the program to go in a different direction.
Herzog has been in the Casa Grande Football program many years. As a head coach, he went 66-34. In 2009 & 2010, his teams racked up back to back 11-2 seasons, an SCL title in 2010 and a shot at the NCS Championship He led the Gauchos to their first NBL Championship since they switched from the SCL
Many of his players have continued their football career beyond high school. Elijah Qualls has been the most known player, playing at the University of Washington and recently competing against Alabama in the CFB Playoff. Miles Gardea signed with the University of Rhode Island, after leading the SRJC defense for the past two years. Peter Parrick has signed with Alabama A&M to play football there.
So this leads to a bigger question. Since October, we have had 6 head football coaching changes. What is going on in Sonoma County High School Football?
Unfortunately, calls from the Principal and the Athletic Director weren’t returned at the time of posting. If calls returned, I will update this article.
