In the Boys Rankings it was pointed out how hard it is to keep track of all the games. The confidence value was pretty high on the standings. I am not so sure about some of the Girls.
Very few Girls post their stats on Max Preps. Heck some of them don’t even post the rosters and others haven’t even been reporting their games to the local newspapers
So here is what we got and expect movement when the league races begin.
There is one more week of tournament play and then league play kicks in. Most of these teams are in the annual West Coast Jamboree which starts on Monday.
No. 1 Cardinal Newman (6-1)…They were No. 1 all of last season and expect to be again this season. Started out season by just missing winning their own tournament, which had mainly heavy weights. Warning: They are probably at least as good as they were last season.
No. 2 Montgomery (7-2)… The losses are to teams with a combined record of 11-4 record. Has one player averaging in double figures and she is a sophomore.
No. 3 Healdsburg (8-1)…Schedule isn’t overwhelming but all the wins have been by double figures. Only loss was to a good Fortuna team in the championship game of its own tournament.
No. 4 Windsor (4-4)…May have played the toughest schedule in the area and paid for it. Three of the four losses were in a tournament in Arizona.
No. 5 Middletown (5-3)… The losses have come to big time programs that have a combined record of 24-4. They also have a win over Casa Grande, pulling away in the fourth quarter to take a 47-29 win. Look out for them in NCL I race.
No. 6 Santa Rosa (3-5)…Almost got back to .500 after losing four of the first five. They started the season in the Cardinal Newman tournament and lost two of three.
No. 7 Sonoma Academy (7-0)…Has some nice wins including over Branson and College Prep. Looks like battle between them and Rincon Valley Christian for NCL II title.
No. 8 Cloverdale (8-1)…Schedule hasn’t scared anyone but has handled it easily outside a seven point win over a good Kelseyville team and the loss to a very good St. Bernard team.
No.9 Kelseyville (8-3)…Has played a challenging schedule. Its three losses are to teams with a combined record of 26-3. The NCL I race looks like a good one.
No. 10 Piner (5-1)…Sneaks in here mainly because of the strides this program has made. Last season they went 10-14. In the seven seasons before that, the most wins they had in any season was five, which is how many they have already this season.
HONORABLE MENTION…Analy, Casa Grande, Lower Lake, RinconValley Christian, Sonoma Valley
