ROSE CITY VICE ADThe top of the Sonoma County League keeps changing, as does the middle of the North Bay League.  The top two is the same as it has been all season.
No. 1 Cardinal Newman (19-5) (Last Week No. 1)…The next win will be No. 20.  The first attempt to do that is a home game against No. 2 Santa Rosa on Tuesday.  A win will also wrap up the NBL Girls race.  Cardinal Newman tied with Santa Rosa for the regular season crown last season.
No. 2 Santa Rosa (18-6) (2)… Wins continue to roll in.  The moment of truth comes when they go to Cardinal Newman on Tuesday.  They look in good shape to get NCS first round home game.
No. 3 Sonoma Valley (18-5) (5)…Made up for the loss to Petaluma with a win over Analy. SCL championship is there to grab.
No. 4 Petaluma (17-6) (4)…Getting hot at the right time.  Still needs help to get a league championship.
No. 5 Analy (10-7) (3) …Losses to Sonoma Valley and Petaluma cost them a league championship.  The SCL Girls post season tournament should be a good one.
No. 6 Middletown (16-6) (6)…Win over Kelseyville gives them a firm grip for first NCL I championship since 2009.
No. 7 Windsor (14-10) (9) …Impressive win at Montgomery gives them a leg up on battle not to play Cardinal Newman in the first round of the NBL post season tournament.
No. 8 Montgomery (12-12) (7)…Couldn’t keep the momentum from Steve Bell’s 500th career win.  Still has a chance for home game in first round of NCS Division 2 playoffs.
No. 9 Kelseyville (12-7) (8)…Comeback season falls short with loss to Middletown.  They still will finish over .500 in league for the first time since 2010
No. 10 Sonoma Academy (13-2) (10)…The anticipated showdown with Upper Lake was postponed because of the weather.  The two teams will end the regular season with game at Upper Lake on February 20th.  Sonoma Academy has one game lead over Upper Lake in NCL II race.  Each team has three games between now and then.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Joelle Krist, Petaluma…Mainly because of her 25 point performance against Analy in a 36-34 victory. The win kept Petaluma in the SCL Girls race.  She followed that up with a 12 point game in a win over Healdsburg.
