For the first time YSN365.com is posting some pre-league football rankings. These are based on scouting reports on the teams as well as some opinions from some coaches and fans, among other things.
We will compare how these look with the final rankings in November.
No. 1 Analy…If they are here at in November might depend on how they do during a tough pre-leagues schedule. Big favorite to win third straight SCL title.
No. 2 Rancho Cotate…Have a lot returning from a team that averaged 27 points a game. They did get a vote for No. 1.
No. 3 Cardinal Newman… They have a new quarterback that is a sophomore. Paul Cronin seems know how to make that work.
No. 4 Casa Grande…Have some big time replacements from last season’s historic team.
No. 5 Montgomery…Third coach in three years. The North Bay League should be something else this season.
No. 6 Middletown…Defending NCL Champs. They also had undefeated JV team.
No. 7 Piner…Tries to keep moving up after first playoff win in a decade. Lost one of the best quarterback in the area to graduation…but will get help from a 7-3 JV teamn.
No. 8 St. Helena…Has gone 31-6 over the past three seasons and 19-2 in NCLI play.
No. 9 Healdsburg…Has most starters returning from 2013 playoff team. Will find out soon how good with tough Pre-League Schedule.
No. 10 Petaluma…Trying to keep moving in the right direction after first playoff appearance since 2010. They have the beef up front to help the option offense.
Honorable Mention—Maria Carrillo, St. Vincent, Windsor
