If you are a soccer fan, Rancho Cotate High School is the place to be on Saturday.   There is a long day of soccer with three NCS championship games, the first game starting at 2 pm and the third game figuring to end at about 9.

All three games feature No. 1 vs. No. 2 seeds and all three games have the defending NCS champion for its division.  Heck, one of the games is between the No. 1 and No. 15 ranked teams in the country.

DIVISION 1 BOYS

No. 2 Tamalpais (16-4-8) at No. 1 Montgomery (16-3-3)…at Rancho Cotate…4:30 pm

Tamalpais is the defending champion, Montgomery won the section title the two years before that.  The Vikings defeated Tamalpais in the 2011 championship game.

Montgomery advanced to the championship game with a shootout win over Casa Grande in the semi-final.

This is the second of the three game day at Rancho Cotate High School.

DIVISION 1 GIRLS

No. 2 Montgomery (19-2) at No. 1 Maria Carrillo (19-0-1)…7 pm

This is the game that features two top twenty teams in the county and wraps up the day at Rancho Cotate High School.  Maria Carrillo is ranked No. 1, moving there last week after spending most of the season at No. 2.   Montgomery is at No. 15.

Both of Montgomery’s losses are to Maria Carrillo, both by 3-2 scores, both games Montgomery led in the second half and the second game going into overtime.

Maria Carrillo is two time defending champions defeating Montgomery in the championship game both years.
