The Sonoma County Fair is underway, and that is a sign of something else getting close. It is one month until the 2014 High School Football season begins.
The first official game for the local teams is on Thursday August 28th, when Kelseyville of the NCL I travels to DeAnza. The schedule really kicks off the following night. According to the schedules that we have seen so far, there will be nine games involving twelve different teams. This includes two of the four games scheduled during the pre-league part of the schedule between NBL and SCL teams. Then the next day there will be four more.
Here is the opening week schedule.

Here are some talking points of that first weekend.
The Casa Grande-Analy game is between the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the final 2014 YSN365.com. It is also a game between the defending NBL and SCL Champions. Three of the four Analy pre-league games are against North Bay League teams.
After going three decades with one coach, Montgomery has its third head coach in three years. Marcello Bautista makes his debut.
The longest rivalry in Sonoma County football resumes when Petaluma travels to Santa Rosa. The two schools played their first game in 1921.
On Saturday Cardinal Newman opens from a team from Nevada who has been ranked in that state’s top twenty the last three seasons.
The first official day of practice is August 11th.
