The bright sight of the first night of the NCS playoffs points to two things.
The league honors go to the NBL Girls, who won four of five and league champion Cardinal Newman still plays tonight.
The school honor goes to Montgomery. Both the Boys and Girls were at home, and both won.
The season is over for the Sonoma County League. That includes the Elsie Allen Boys, whose best season in school history ends at 22-7.
For those who did survive, they are one game away from qualifying for the Nor Cal playoffs. Those games are on Friday.
