Sierra 8 SRJC 3
The dream series for first place started out like a nightmare for SRJC.
By the time the first inning ended Sierra had a 7-0 lead.   The first run scored after the leadoff batter singled and advanced to third on two wild pitches.   The second run scored after reaching after getting hit by a pitch.
SRJC cut the lead to 7-2 in the fifth and had the bases loaded with two outs when the inning ended on a pick off.
It was that kind of day.
Sierra has now won ten straight and are 22-3 on the season and take a one game lead over SRJC in the Big 8 race at 12-1.
SRJC is 20-3-1 overall.
Game two of the three game series will be Thursday afternoon at SRJC.  Game time is at 2:30.
Game three is back in Sierra on Saturday at 1 pm.
There are eleven games left in the league race.

No. 2 Analy 9 El Molino 0
Sonoma Valley 4 No. 4 Piner 1
Petaluma and Analy are the only two teams left undefeated in the league race.
Petaluma, at 3-0, has a half game lead because they have played one more game than Analy.
Jaymes Potts got his first win of the season for Petaluma pitching five innings.  Potts ERA on the season is 1.81.
Petaluma has won four straight.
Analy’s winning streak is eight.  Ry McAulliffe is 4-0 after the win over El Molino.
Darin Newman had three hits to get his batting average over .400.
Sonoma Valley was facing a must win and got it.
Jonah Son hit a two run single in the first inning and that turned out to be enough.
Jimmy Flatt pitched his fifth complete game of the season to go to 5-1 on the season.
Piner, who falls to 11-3, has another critical game on Friday when they host Analy.
In a non-league game Santa Rosa goes eight innings to beat Healdsburg 3-2.
Matt Cox led off the top of the 8th with a single, then advanced all the way to third when Healdsburg miss
handled a bunt by Cody Montanez. Cal Clamar drove Cox in from third with a two out single down the third
base line to score the winning run.

Nate Fassold earned the victory in relief of Jasper Hillier, who went 6 strong innings for
the Panthers.
It was Santa Rosa’s second extra inning win in three games and fourth one run game in five.

Rancho Cotate and Cardinal Newman are 2-0.
Kazja Fa’agata-Averbuck gave up a run to Maria Carrillo in the first and then shut them out the rest of the way allowing three hits.
Rancho Cotate scored two runs in the bottom of the first then put the game with a three run third.  Amanda Navarro had three hits including a two run double.
Rancho Cotate has only played five games so far this season.  They will make up for that a bit this week playing five games in the next week including a tournament in Antioch this weekend.
Before that there is another league game with Montgomery on Thursday.
There have been two different scores reported for the Cardinal Newman-Ukiah game.  Both is a one run win by Cardinal Newman as they go to 8-1 overall.
A three run sixth broke a 1-1 tie to give Casa Grande the win over Windsor.  Courtney Ludlow struck out eight and Lisa Nadell hit a two run double that broke the tie.
Denia Vera scattered eight hits to lead Santa Rosa over Montgomery.
Windsor is at Maria Carrillo on Thursday.   Both teams are 1-1 in league play.
WEDNESDAY HEADLINES
Two of the three undefeated teams in the NBL Baseball race meet when No.5 Rancho Cotate travels to No. 3 Montgomery.
Both teams are 2-0 in league play as is No. 1 Casa Grande who has a home game against Ukiah.
