It was a spring season that featured a long winning streak by the Maria Carrillo baseball team and long games between Analy and Petaluma.
 
February 25th—Maria Carrillo opens up the baseball season with a 7-2 win over Analy.   It was Analy’s second game of the season.   It turned out this game decided who were the top two teams in the YSN365.com rankings.
 
March 20th—Petaluma defeats Analy 6-1 to win the Rabinovitz Tourament hosted by Montgomery.  Petaluma won three games in the tournament outscoring opponents 25-4. It is the first of four meetings between Petaluma and Analy. The two teams would end up on top of the SCL standings.
 
March 24th—The first baseball and softball rankings are posting by YSN365.com.   The No. 1 and No. 2 teams are from the same school in both.   No. 1 is Petaluma while Maria Carrillo is No. 2
 
March 25th—Petaluma and Analy open SCL play and both the Varsity and JV games are suspended because of darkness after going 11 innings.   The Varsity score is 7-7, the JV 1-1.  The teams will complete the games when they meet in Petaluma on April 17th.
 
April 3rd—In softball, Rancho Cotate defeats Montgomery 4-1.  The win was the 200th of Rancho Cotate manager Dave Johnson’s career.
 
April 11th—Maria Carrillo edges Montgomery 2-1 in a game between the last two undefeated teams in the NBL baseball race.   Maria Carrillo broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth on a steal of home. The win gives the Pumas a nine game winning streak and a 12-2 season record.
 
April 14th—In Softball, Windsor defeats Maria Carrillo 2-0.   This is the first game of what YSN365.com called judgment week.    There was a game between top two teams (in some league) in baseball and softball (at least one) every day during this week.  This also looked like a league defining loss for Maria Carrillo.  It turned out to be their last NBL loss.
 
April 17th—Analy and Petaluma finish the suspended game of March 25th.   In the 12th inning of that game and the first inning played this day, Petaluma scored one in the top of the first to take an 8-7 lead. Analy scored two in the bottom of the inning to win 9-8.   Next was the scheduled game and that one went 15 innings with Analy taking a 1-0 win.    Analy twin brothers Evan and Garrett Hill have a memorable day.   One twin drove in the winning run in game one, while the other twin was the winning pitcher and scored the winning run in game two.   The twins combined to pitch every inning of the 15 inning game.  This was the day that decided the SCL race.   It was the only two league losses for Petaluma. Analy finished league play 12-0.
 
April 17th—The JV games between Petaluma and Analy both went extra innings and both went to Petaluma.   The suspended game went another five innings before Petaluma took a 2-1 win in 16 innings.   The regular game went nine innings which was a 5-4 Petaluma win.
 
April 21st—At 14-2, Maria Carrillo is named the No. 1 baseball team in the YSN365.com rankings.   They would keep that spot for the rest of the season.  Analy after the double win over Petaluma moves to No. 2.
 
April 29th—Joelle Krist hits her 10th homer of the season as Petaluma defeats Piner 12-1 in softball.   She would end the season with 11.

May 6th—Analy defeats Elsie Allen 13-3 to wrap up the SCL baseball race.   It is the second straight SCL baseball championship for Analy.    Analy scored five runs in the first inning, three of them on the only homer of the season by Kyle Earley who also drove in five runs.   For the season he drove in 14.

May 6thPetaluma scored 12 in the fourth to wipe out a 2-0 deficit and defeat El Molino 15-2 to wrap up the SCL Softball race.   The championship is the fourth straight for Petaluma.

May 7th—Maria Carrillo defeats Montgomery 7-1 to sew up the NBL Baseball race.   It gives the Pumas a 18 game winning streak and a 21-2 record on the season.  It is their first league championship since 2001.  Maria Carrillo would finish undefeated in NBL play.
 
May 9thClear Lake defeats Fort Bragg 14-4 to wrap up the NCL I Baseball race.   Clear Lake went 13-1 in NCL I play and finished 20-7 overall.
 
May 13th—Maria Carrillo defeats Cardinal Newman 4-0 to wrap up the NBL Softball race.  Robin Johnson pitches a two hit shutout.   Johnson went 18-5 on the season and had an ERA of 1.07.   Brittney Veler had two hits, one of them her sixth homer of the season and scored three runs.   Veler had a .628 batting average on the season.  The two were named Co-NBL players of the year.  It is Maria Carrillo’s second straight NBL Softball Championship.
 
May 13th—The St. Vincent Baseball teams wraps the NCL II baseball race with a 15-5 win over Rincon Valley Christian.  It is the fifth straight season that they have at least shared a league championship.
 
May 13th—Cloverdale sewed up the NCL I Softball title with a 5-4 win over Clear Lake.   The game went eight innings and Cloverdale won the game and the championship with a three run eighth.  It is Cloverdale’s second straight NCL I championship.

May 13th—The St. Vincent Softball team wraps up its third straight league championship with a 10-3 win over Calistoga.  After a 1-7 start, St. Vincent won fourteen straight before losing the NCS Championship game.   The runs by Calistoga were the only runs they allowed during the league season.   St. Vincent has finished undefeated in league play in each of the last three seasons.

May 16th—Maria Carrillo defeated Montgomery 3-0 to win the NBL Post Season tournament championship.  Zack Scott pitched a complete game two hitter.  Keith Wallach scored the first run and drove in the other two.  It was Maria Carrillo’s 21st straight win.
 
May 16th—Analy defeated Petaluma 7-5 in the SCL Baseball Post Season Championship Game.   Evan Hill broke a 5-5 tie with an RBI single in the fifth.  He would score an insurance run on a triple by Joaquin Meckler, which was his season high third RBI of the game.  Petaluma went 1-3 against Analy, 19-5 against everyone else.
 
May 16th—Petaluma defeated Sonoma Valley 9-3 to win the SCL Softball post season championship. A six run third was the difference.  The win was the 20th of the season for Petaluma.
 
May 21st—The highlight of the NCS playoffs for the local teams was No. 16 Casa Grande defeating No. 1 Campolindo 1-0 in the first round of the NCS Division 2 baseball playoffs.  Eric Parnow pitched a complete game two hitter, striking out 11.   Campolindo had won four straight NCS Division 2 championships.
