Here are the first YSN365.com rankings. On the weekly ranking page will be the local computer rankings and the weekend honor roll.
YSN RANKINGS
No. 1 Rancho Cotate (1-0)…Nice start to the season. Had the game with Alhambra basically wrapped up at the end of the first quarter.
No. 2 Cardinal Newman (1-1)…This makes a just miss in two things. No. 1 was a win against St. Mary’s of Stockton and No. 2, the No. 1 ranking here. You get the feeling this will be a debate until October 9th when Rancho Cotate goes to Cardinal Newman. Why not start the hype early.
No. 3 Analy (2-0)…The Tigers starting the season taking on the NBL World and so far so good.
No. 4 Windsor (2-0)…After a slow start, that was an impressive win over Northgate.
No. 5 St. Helena (2-0)…The Saints have the look of a team of “What if they played one of the local powers.”
No. 6 Maria Carrillo (1-1)…Despite getting nicked up, played Analy well. Not a team to overlook.
No. 7 Fort Bragg (2-0)…Has something in common with Cardinal Newman. They have a win over Del Norte.
No. 8 Willits (2-0)…Set up nicely for a 3-0 start going into league play. First 2-0 start since 2011.
No. 9 Cloverdale (2-0)…A nice rally plus a one sided win equals an impressive start. Adds to the depth on the NCL I.
No. 10 Santa Rosa (1-0)…Nice start to season. The warning for Santa Rosa fans would be that they won each opener from 2010-13. The rest of the season didn’t go so well.

HONOR ROLL
Jack Newman (Analy)…Had his name on all four scoring plays as Analy defeated Maria Carrillo 27-14. Newman threw for three and ran in another.
Damien Wallace (Cardinal Newman)…Seven catches for 151 yards and two touchdowns. He also had an interception in the tough loss to St. Mary’s.

Steven Rosales (Elsie Allen)…Led the team in tackles with nine, one for a loss. He also was the leading rusher with 25 yards. Elsie Allen lost a one sided game, but is one of the few teams and the only one from the SCL, that has it stats posted at MaxPreps and has respect for trying to keep the program going here.
Mo Ward (Rancho Cotate)…Had over 200 yards in total offense and scored four touchdowns as Rancho Cotate defeated Alhambra 55-19.
Gunner Mefferd (Rancho Cotate)…Threw for 229 yards and four touchdowns.
Kalie Aukai (Santa Rosa)…Caught one touchdown pass and returned a kickoff 90 yards for a score. Those were the first two touchdowns of the season as Santa Rosa defeated Piner 27-20.
Jahaiver Otero (St. Helena)…Rushed for 223 yards and two touchdowns in a 57-35 win over Drake. That was part of a 561 rushing game for St. Helena which is being reported as a school record.
Alfio Basile (St. Helena)…added to the record night. 189 yards on only 13 carries. He scored two touchdowns, one of them on a 52 yard run.
Curtis Johnson (Windsor)…Three touchdown receptions for a combined 110 yards as Windsor defeated Northgate 38-22. For the game Johnson had 130 of the 190 receiving yards for Windsor. Johnson caught two of his touchdowns in the third quarter helping put the game away.
NCL I Overall…Five teams have made it through the first two weeks of the season undefeated. Lower Lake has played one game and defeated El Molino 21-14. The undefeated teams at 2-0 are Cloverdale, Fort Bragg, St. Helena and Willits. Overall the NCL I is 9-4. That is the third best record of the sixteen leagues in the North Coast Section.
HELP…If you think anyone needs to be considered on the honor roll let me. Trying to find out stats is not easy so far this season. Hopefully it will get a little easier.
